The Kennel- How we do it.

We are inspected yearly and licensed as a quality Boarding Facility by the S.P.C.A.

For medical emergencies we always have a local  vet on call: Rowland Mobile Veterinary Service is only a short 8 minute drive away.

Our boarding facility has spacious indoor pens (for bigger dogs: 8 feet x 6 feet, or for smaller dogs; 8 feet X 4 feet) with electrical in floor heat. There is a direct outdoor access from each pen through a doggy door, to an individual outdoor play and exercise area (8feet x 12 feet). The outdoor pens are under roof, so that your dog is safely protected from the weather.

We also have 9 large exercise yards (12 feet by 50 feet!) where the dogs will go out and play and exercise, for several hours a day- weather of course permitting. Exercising and playtime in the yards is included in your primary boarding package.

Each Indoor pen has comfortable beds for resting. We use the superior Kuranda beds for easy cleaning and maximum comfort.

Basic Services

The following services are included in our basic boarding package.

Feeding: we use 2 types of high end quality dog-kibble and one canned variety: 1) Purina Proplan   2) Peerless.  3) For the picky eater we also offer Canned Pal.

You may bring your dog's own food if you do not wish to impose any feeding change for your pet. We will feed your dog once or twice a day, whatever schedule you prefer.

Medication: There is no extra charge for treating your pet if you bring a previously prescribed medication.

Buddy-program: We offer a unique pairing program for your dog.  This involves a careful assessment of your dog's temperament before a pairing will take place with one of our gentle Golden retrievers or with one of our playful Norwegian buhunds. We typically match dogs that have compatible energy levels and are of a similar age. The Buddy program is recommended but only used with the owner’s approval.

Our own dogs are extremely sweet tempered and non- conformational. The boarding dog usually draws comfort and confidence from having a buddy .Dogs are social creatures and  we therefore have found that they do  much better if they can have constant companionship and social interaction with other dogs. The buddy stays with your pet throughout the day, they sleep together, they play together and they exercise together. They are, however, fed separately. (Dogs that are aggressive or fearful of other dogs get their own individual pen and are not paired with any other dog.)

Exercising: all boarding dogs will spend several hours in the exercise yards, thereby ensuring plenty of running and playing time (weather permitting), at no additional cost,

Cat-boarding:We offer boarding for cats and have a separate, spacious room that has plenty of light, well away from the dogs. We have several cat-pens and each cat also gets special time playing and exercising while loose in the cat-room.

We require that each cat comes with his/her own feed-- since we do not wish to change the food for any cat.

Extra Services:

Grooming: Our kennel staff is able to do any type of grooming, from pet clips to show grooming, as well as ear cleaning and nail clipping.  We have a separate grooming room, with a big tub for bathing and also hair dryers. We additionally have several indoor pens to keep your dog spotlessly clean until pick up time. Cost of bath and grooming varies, depending on the breed and the condition, as well as the length of coat.

Dog- walking: We offer walking-tours for an extra fee of $5, per walk. This may include swimming in the pond and/ or hiking along our many trails.

Training and conditioning: We have long time experience dealing with dogs of all breeds that need some fine-tuning in order to become better family pets. We will do leash training as well as basic obedience, for an extra fee. Karin has over 30 years experience in training dogs both as a private trainer and as an obedience class instructor. She has also actively competed at all levels in obedience trials- to the very top - with great success.

We have also, over the past couple of decades, offered a conditioning program. Due to our unique set-up (with such a large property and the many opportunities to exercise) many show dogs have stayed with us for an extended period of time, while getting ready for competition.
