At KYON, we have been responsible for the introduction of the breed to Canada and have overseen the acceptance of the Norwegian Buhund as a fully recognized breed by the Canadian Kennel Club.

Karin Klouman, partner in KYON reg'd. and Norwegian by birth, was familiar with Buhunds from childhood. With a firm idea of proper type in mind, Karin searched Norway for a topnotch kennel.

We imported an outstanding breeding pair from the Leitegård kennels, Per and Minna, who became our foundation breeding stock and the rest, as they say, is history.
