Kyon Complete Boarding

At Kyon Kennels we are happy to offer a Complete Boarding program for dogs and cats which additionally can include Grooming, Conditioning and Training. Furthermore we have experience in caring for your more exotic pets,: over the years we have looked after rabbits, guinea-pigs, iguanas, birds and also turtles.

First and foremost we operate a true family-run business and therefore most of the members of the Barr- Klouman Clan (including our grand children)  engage in Kyon Kennels' affairs.

 We are an integral part of the local community: An important part of our program over the decades has been that we visit the primary schools in the neighborhood (with our pups) and teach dog-safety. We also have several opportunities for disadvantaged youths that can come and interact with our own dogs. Furthermore we have often volunteered our services in cases of domestic discord when animals suddenly need emergency care. Finally many local youths have gained valuable life-experience by working and volunteering at the kennel over the years.  Several have gone on to develop their own successful careers within the pet service industry. Former staff includes:  Veterinarians, Dog-groomers, Dog- Breeders, Dog Handlers and Animal Health Technicians.

The kennel is situated on our farm property , where we also have our private home.  We are therefore within easy reach of the your pets twenty-four hours a day, seven days a week.

Walking and Playing At Kyon

We are a dedicated family of animal lovers, who breed and show our own dogs (Golden Retrievers, since 1970 and Norwegian Buhunds, since 1989 ) in conformation- and sometimes in obedience . 

We are a unique kennel in that we have available two extra-special features for our dog boarders:

1)  We offer a buddy-system: all non-aggressive dogs will be given the opportunity of being paired up with a "buddy", while visiting with us. We strongly feel that the dog that always has a gentle buddy (to share the boarding experience with) is a happy and well adjusted dog!

2)  We offer a lot of exercise-opportunities. Our 9 exercise yards are exceptionally  large (12 X 50 feet long) and each dog at Kyon will daily have the option of spending several hours outside in these yards, running and playing with their buddies. We also offer DAILY WALKS along our trails through our 175 acres of fields and forest as well as swims in our ponds; for those that require this added service.  We strongly feel that the dog that stays active is a happy dog!
